18.07.2017 • Ambassador Yuri Vardanyan received the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Javad

On July 18, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Yuri Vardanyan hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia Seyed Javad who visited the Embassy of Armenia in cognitive nature. the sides discussed number of issues of mutual interest during the meeting. The interlocutors stressed the importance of Armenian-Iranian contacts and cooperation on all possible platforms, including the cooperation between the heads of diplomatic representations of Armenia and Iran in other states. During the talk the sides touched upon the construction of the North-South highway, which will essentially contribute to the expansion of trade turnover and economic development both of Armenia and Iran. The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

24.04.2017 • Events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide

 Commemorative events were held in Tbilisi and in several other cities of Georgia on the occasion of the 102-nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Events titled "I remember and demand" were held in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia on April 23. In the yard of Armenian Church Surb Etchmiadzin, near the cross-stone dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, a flash-mob was held by the students of "St. Movses Khorenatsi" Primary School of the educational department of Armenian Diocese, who presented a symbolic image of Tsitsernakaberd-the Memorial of Armenian Genocide. The series of events were continued in "Hayartun" center, where the presentation of russian translation of Yves Ternon’s book "Armenians. One Genocide History" was held. It has been a year since Azerbaijan’s April aggression against Artsakh. During four days of April 2016 Azerbaijan conducted the same type of aggressive actions and barbarism against population of Artsakh, that it had carried out for about four years in the beginning of 1990s, when it had tried to deprive the people of Nagorno-Karabakh from their right to live in their homeland and to exercise their right to self-determination. We pay tribute to the memory of all heroes who fell repelling the attack of Azerbaijan against Artsakh and who gave their lives to prevent mass atrocities against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

 A commemorative event dedicated to the victims of pogroms in Sumgait, Baku and Kirovabad was held in Tbilisi on 28 of February, 2017, which was organized by the joint efforts of Armenian organizations in Tbilisi. The event, which was attended by the staff of the Embassy of Armenia in Georgia, the clergy of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Armenian and Georgian intellectuals, community and public figures, other representatives of the Armenian community, began with a prayer for the repose of the souls with the participation of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and the clergy. Events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the RA Armed Forces were held in Tbilisi on 26-28 of January.  I learned the news about Anahit Bostanjyan’s unexpected death with deep sorrow.  Mrs. Anahit, of course, was one the most famous, most talented and brightest figures of the Armenian community in Georgian. Her lyrical poems, sample translations, readings have not left any reader or listener indifferent. Her social activity was especially valuable for me as the Ambassador of Armenia to Georgia, the lion's share of which was devoted to the strengthening of friendship and love between the Armenian and Georgian peoples and the creative part was aimed at closing ties between the two nations’ literatures. On May 29, the 102nd traditional Sayat-Nova Festival of Roses (Vardaton) took place in Tbilisi. The event was organized by the Armenian community of Georgia by the support of the municipality of Tbilisi, ministries of culture of the Republic of Armenia and Georgia, the Armenian state dramatic theatre after P. Adamyan in Tbilisi and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia.
