On September 17, an exhibition showcasing the works of Armenian and Georgian painters was held at the National Library of Georgia, dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of Independence of Armenia. The exhibition was organized by the Embassy of RA to Georgia and “Hayartun” Cultural Center of the Georgian-Armenian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church with the assistance of the Union of Armenian Artists of Georgia and the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian made an opening speech at the exhibition and congratulated those present on the 22nd anniversary of Independence of Armenia. He particularly mentioned: “The independence declared in 1991 is perhaps the greatest achievement of the Armenian people. The most outstanding representatives of our nation dreamt of it over the centuries and they did everything possible and impossible to gain it.

In his speech Hovhannes Manoukian stressed the importance of organizing such events directed to the development of Armenian-Georgian cultural ties, as well as other joint cultural events that stimulate and enhance the centuries-old Armenian-Georgian friendship.

Advisor to the President of Georgia, Editor of Georgia newspaper Van Bayburtyan, President of the Union of Armenian Artists of Georgia Merujan Shahumyan, President of the Union of Artists of Georgia Guram Tsertsvadze and Father Manuk Zeynalyan from the Holy Etchmiadzin Church of Tbilisi participated at the event. The Armenian and Georgian painters, whose works were presented at the exhibition, in their speeches mentioned about the rich culture of Armenian and Georgian nations and the need to develop the cultural ties between the two countries.

The exhibition runs until September 23.
