Events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide

 Commemorative events were held in Tbilisi and in several other cities of Georgia on the occasion of the 102-nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Events titled "I remember and demand" were held in the Armenian Diocese in Georgia on April 23.

In the yard of Armenian Church Surb Etchmiadzin, near the cross-stone dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, a flash-mob was held by the students of "St. Movses Khorenatsi" Primary School of the educational department of Armenian Diocese, who presented a symbolic image of Tsitsernakaberd-the Memorial of Armenian Genocide.

The series of events were continued in "Hayartun" center, where the presentation of russian translation of Yves Ternon’s book "Armenians. One Genocide History" was held. During the presentation translator Aleksander Kalantarov spoke about the book. The event was ended with screening of Andrew Golbergi’s documentary film "Armenian Genocide".

Then, a Commemorative Evening was held organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia and the Diocese of Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia Yuri Vardanyan, Head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, members of Parliament of Georgia, a number of foreign Ambassadors, leaders of several churches, diplomats, representatives of the Armenian community of Georgia, representatives of the Georgian civil society and national minorities, intellectuals were attended in the Event.

President of Peace Foundation of Georgia Giorgi Tumasyan gave a presentation on the Armenian Genocide, condemnation and demand of justice.

Member of Parliament of Georgia David Chichinadze said in his speech that he felt obliged to be with Armenians in this tragic day for them.

Also musical performances and poetry were sounded during the Memorial Event.
Liturgies dedicated to the Innocent Victims of the Armenian Genocide were served in Armenian Apostolic Churches in Georgia on April 24.

Head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan served liturgy in Surb Ejmiatsin church in Tbilisi dedicated to the memory of The Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Yuri Vardanyan, members of Parliament of Georgia, representatives of Armenian community of Georgia, community leaders and intellectuals were attended the Liturgy.

The Liturgy was followed by a special commemoration ceremony in the memory of holy martyrs.

The Ceremony was held near the cross-Stone erected in the yard of the Church in the memory of Victims of Armenian Genocide.

Memorial liturgies, protest demonstrations, marches and peaceful rallies were held in the Armenian-populated cities and regions of Georgia on April 24.
