President Vahagn Khachaturyan receives Foreign Minister of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan has received Foreign Minister of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili today.

Upon welcoming the visit of Mr. Darchiashvili to Armenia in the capacity of the Foreign Minister, President Khachaturyan has congratulated him on the appointment to the office and wished him success in that position of responsibility. President Khachaturyan has also expressed the hope that the visit of Minister Darchiashvili to Armenia will be productive and will give new impetus to the strengthening of the relations between the two states.

During the meeting, President Khachaturyan and Minister Darchiashvili have underlined the importance of maintaining frequent inter-state contacts at different levels. Both parties have noted that these contacts signify the value both Georgia and Armenia, which share centuries-long friendship, place on their relationship, and speak to the determination of the countries to maintain Georgian-Armenia cooperation among priorities.

Touching on regional development, President Khachaturyan and Minister Darchiashvili have highlighted the importance of stability and peace and noted that strengthening of mutual trust, continuous dialogue, and cooperation between states will facilitate security and stability in the region.

Both parties have noted with satisfaction that the construction of the “Friendship” bridge at the Sadakhlo-Bagratashen border checkpoint is proceeding actively. In this context, Minister Darchiashvili has shared his confidence that owing to joint efforts of the two countries, the traditionally good neighborly relations and partnership between Armenia and Georgia will gain new strength and develop further.

Touching on the scope of Armenian-Georgian collaboration, President Khachaturyan and Minister Darchiashvili have stressed the importance of projects in the fields of telecommunications and high tech, as well as the necessity of adding new initiatives to the existing projects.
