06 April, 2012

On April 6, 2012 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian had a meeting with Minister of culture and monument protection of Georgia Nikoloz Rurua.

Both sides underlined the importance of Armenian-Georgian cultural cooperation and noted the high level cooperation between Ministries of Culture of two countries.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the plans for holding cultural events jointly organized in 2012. They particularly touched upon the joint cultural events to be organized in light of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Georgia, as well as the schedule of events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of great Armenian troubadour Sayat-Nova.

In the course of the meeting, the RA Ambassador proposed to promote the preservation and restoration of Armenian churches, in response to which the Minister expressed his willingness to assist by taking active steps toward this direction.

In addition, the publication of an illustrated catalogue about cultural heritage of Armenians in Georgia, continuation of Armenian-Georgian music projects on some TV channels and the restoration works of Tbilisi State Armenian Dramatic Theatre building were also discussed.
