Official Reception dedicated to the 22nd Anniversary of the Independence of Armenia

22 September, 2013

On September 20, in Tbilisi, an official reception dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia was organized in the Residence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia.

Members of the government of Georgia, officials of the government agencies, members of political, public, and business spheres, heads of the international organizations and diplomatic missions accredited in Tbilisi, military attaches and spiritual, entrepreneurial, cultural and public figures  of the Armenian community in Georgia were present at the reception.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian delivered a speech at the reception stating that the Independence of the Republic of Armenia declared in 1991, was the most important achievement of the Armenian nation over the last few centuries. Ambassador Manoukian, in particular, mentioned: “During the last two decades our nation has survived a great deal of pain and suffering inflicted by the destructive earthquake, the Karabakh conflict, the economic and transport blockade. However, despite the enormous difficulties and poor resources of the country, our nation could overcome all these challenges and come out as a winner; and Armenian diplomats have a big merit in that matter”.

In his speech Ambassador Manoukian stated the high level of the Armenian-Georgian relations and stressed the importance of the mutual efforts towards strengthening and reinforcement of those relations as an inner political priority.

“Armenia is interested in stable and powerful Georgia and it is in Georgia’s interest to see Armenia as a prosperous country. Strategic character of interaction between Armenia and Georgia organically corresponds to inner policy priorities imposed by the demands of the national and economic safety of our countries”, mentioned Hovhannes Manoukian.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze made a congratulatory speech at the reception.

Soloists and musical groups of “Hayartun” cultural centre performed at the official reception dedicated to the 22-nd anniversary of the Independence of RA.

Photos by Yuri Mechitov and Yuri Akulyan, reflecting scenic countryside and culture of Armenia, were shown at the reception.

During the dinner, the guests were served traditional Armenian food and high quality drinks.
