Ambassador Manoukian’s working visit To Samtskhe-Javakhk

 On March 1 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian had a working visit to Akhalkalak and Ninotsminda regions of Samtskhe Javakhk state.

The aim of the visit was to meet with the representatives of the local Armenian community and reward a number of community activists with the departmental honours of RA.

The first meeting was in Ninotsminda at the educational-cultural and youth centre named after Rafael Gharslyan, which started its activity recently.   

Jora Snkhchyan, the coordinator of the centre, greeted the guests and briefly introduced the cnetre’s activity and the results achieved in rather a short time period.   

Hovhannes Manoukian also made a speech at the meeting. He emphasized the importance of cultural, educational and sport activities in community life and encouraged to continue activities in those directions always keeping a contact with the corresponding Armenian state and non-state institutions. Ambassador Manoukian also underlined the importance of the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in life of Armenian community and in its spiritual education and national self consciousness.

At the end of the meeting the Ambassador of RA to Georgia rewarded a number of community activists with the departmental honours of Ministries of Diaspora, Education and Science, Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs of RA.

At the same day Ambassador Manoukian had another meeting with the representatives of the community structures and individuals in Akhalkalak.

The present state of Armenian-Georgian relations, the existing problems of Georgian-Armenian community, as well as issues concerning Javakhk Armenians were discussed at the meeting.  Ambassador Manoukian answered to the questions of the participants.

During the meeting Hovhannes Manoukian spoke of the results of Georgian president Giorgi Margvelashvili’s official visit to Armenia. 

Later the official ceremony of awarding of RA departmental honours took place.   

Armenian Church Locum Tenens for Javakhk, Father Babken Salbyan, deputy of National Assembly of RA Tachat Vardapetyan and head of the Division for the Caucasus of the Department of Armenian Communities in the CIS Taron Shagoyan were accompanying Ambassador Manoukian on the visit.
