Diplomat Day Event and Celebration of Bun Barekendan in Tbilisi

On March 2, a mass devoted to Bun Barekendan day, was celebrated by priest Manuk Zeynalyan in Ejmiatsin Church, Tbilisi. Armenian community was celebrating Bun Barekendan day parallel with the “Harisa” festival. The festival was organized by the Association of Armenian Women of Georgia “Shushanik” and “Hayartun” Cultural Centre with the assistance of Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The celebration was held in “Hayartun” Cultural Centre at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Georgia. It was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian, the staff of the embassy, the head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Georgia’s president’s advisor for the issues of ethnic minorities Sofia Shamanidi, and representatives of the Armenian community.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia Hovhannes Manoukian made a speech at the event and congratulated those present on Bun Barekendan festival. Ambassador Manoukian, as well, informed the attendees that March 2 was considered as Diplomat Day in Armenia. He congratulated the Armenian diplomats accredited in Georgia on professional day and encouraged the Armenian community structures to unite for achieving even more effective results.  

Hovhannes Manokian rewarded a number of community activists with the departmental honours of Ministries of Diaspora, Education and Science, Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs of RA.

At the end of the event, head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanian had a blessing speech.
