Event entitled "Armenia - Ancient and Modern" in Tbilisi

         On May 18 an event entitled "Armenia - Ancient and Modern" was held at the Museum of History of Tbilisi City Hall “Karvasla”. The event was organized by the centre of cultural relations “Caucasian House” with the assistance of the Embassy of RA to Georgia and with the participation of “Gari Davtyan” house-museum and “Hayartun” cultural centre. The event was held within the frame of "Kaukult" project.

         Photo exhibition representing the time period of Kilikia and Ani was held at the cultural event. Photographers Yuri Mechitov, Maya Deisadze and the director of Parajanov’s Museum Zaven Sargsyan were the authors of the exhibited photos.   

        At the evening Armenian and Georgian actors performed a theatrical scene reflecting episodes from the history of ancient Armenia creating an atmosphere peculiar to that time period.

         Soloist of National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after AL. Spendiaryan Jaklin Sarkoshyan, soloist of ensemble “Barekamutyun” Karen Makinyan and “Jeyran” dance ensemble functioning at the “Hayartun” Cultural Centre performed in the dancing part of the event. Nina Karapetyan, Nadin Zakaryan and the choir of St. Echmiatsin church in Tbilisi performed songs during the performance.

        The event was organized with the financial support of the Department of Culture of the EU Eastern Partnership Program.

       Chargé d'affaires of RA to Georgia Vahagn Afyan, the diplomatic staff of the Embassy, Priest of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia Ter Manuk Zeinalyan, Tbilisi Armenian miniaturist Merujan Shahumyan, Chairman of the Union of Armenian Musicians of Georgia Artem Kirakozov (Grigorenc), representatives of the Armenian community in Georgia and foreign guests were present at the event.

      

 

Information: Project "Kaukult" is a part of the international, cross-cultural programme that aims at promoting initiatives of local cultures for reinforcement and development of ethnic, religious and cultural diversity in the South Caucasus.
