On January 14 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RA to Georgia Yuri Vardanyan had a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia Elita Gavele.

Issues concerning bilateral relations between Armenia and Latvia, as well as Armenia and the EU and their development prospects were discussed at the meeting.

The sides also touched upon the events dedicated to 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide to be organized by the Armenian Government.  Ambassador Vardanyan mentioned that, on behalf of RA President and Catholicos of All Armenians, invitations had been sent to the world’s heads of states, the spiritual leaders and officials for participation in the events dedicated to the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Elita Gavele said that she had been in Armenia many times and had the most favorable impression of the country.

Ambassador Vardanyan assured that Armenia intends to continue to maintain friendly and working relations both with Latvia and the EU, and said he was convinced that in the 21st century all conflicts and disputes between the states should be resolved exclusively by political means.

The meeting of the two Ambassadors was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
