Events dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Creation of the RA Armed Forces

 Events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the RA Armed Forces were held in Tbilisi on 26-28 of January.

An official reception was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia in “Sami Saukune” Ceremony Hall on 26 of January, which was attended by the Former Minister of Defense of Georgia, General David Tevzadze, military representative of Georgia to NATO, Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze, National Guard Commander, General of Brigadier Levan Gamkrelidze, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Georgia, colonel Shalva Jabakhidze, heads of departments and services of Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, representatives of the diplomatic and military-diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, Military experts, Head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and clergy, representatives of Armenian community in Tbilisi.

Defense attaché of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia Samvel Ramazyan congratulated the guests on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian Army, presenting the significance of the day and evaluating the restructuring of the Armenian Armed Forces and the centuries-old Armenian-Georgian alliance in his welcoming speech. The speaker particularly emphasized the importance of the historical episodes of bilateral support and joint efforts of two peoples to resist foreign enemy, the result of which is that the ancient Christian nations were able to preserve their identity and regain lost independence, to develop and deepen the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and Georgian peoples.

Military representative of Georgia to NATO, Former Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Georgia Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze expressed warm congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces and noted that in this changing world the relationship of two historically neighboring Christian nations - Armenians and Georgians is not subject to change. It’s steadfast, like the armed forces of these two nations.

Then an official feast was held with Armenian and Georgian song and dance.

On 28 of January the staff of the Embassy with the clergy of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the representatives of Armenian community in Tbilisi gave tribute at the graves of the renowned Armenian commanders buried in the yard of St. Gevorg church. A wreath was laid with military honors and a requiem was held.

Then a festive event was held in “Hayartun” Cultural Center dedicated to the day of Armed Force of RA which was attended by the representatives of Armenian community in Georgia and Embassy of Armenia.

A film screening took place about the history of creation of Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia prepared by the Ministry of Defense of RA. Head of the Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan and Defense attaché Samvel Ramazyan made speeches which were followed by a festive concert.
